The machinery of colonialism advances through the mapping and erasure of Country. The unsettling of Queenstown is accompanied by a demapping of Country. Fragments of a cartographic representation of an imaginary third Queenstown are dispersed about the Archive. This ‘demap’, constructed from existing maps using graphic analogues of tactics harvested from the Open Archive, offers a glimpse of a future for recovering Country, transcending the encirclements of our many inherited Queenstowns.
